Dearest Weldonites,

As we step into the new academic year, I am thrilled to welcome both new and returning students to our law school community.

To the incoming class of 2028, huge congratulations and welcome! You are about to begin an incredibly exciting and transformative journey. Law school will challenge you in ways you may not yet expect. Your peers, professors, and the wider legal community are here to support you along the way. There is no one "right" path through law school, and I encourage you to explore, ask questions, and make space for the things that matter most to you. Most importantly, make sure you take the time to appreciate the moments, both big and small.

To the 2Ls and 3Ls, welcome back! As upper-year students,  you bring your experience, perspective, and resilience. Whether you're preparing for job applications and interviews, competing in moots, or simply trying to keep pace with a busy course load, I hope this year offers you new challenges, rewarding opportunities, and wonderful experiences that you will carry with you for a long time.

As President of the LSS, I am proud to represent our student body at Schulich. Our role as a society is to advocate for student interests, support academic and social initiatives, and create opportunities for involvement and connection. From academic support and mentorship initiatives to professional development events and community-building activities, the LSS is here to ensure your law school experience is meaningful both inside and outside of the classroom.

This year, we are particularly focused on ensuring that every student is included and heard while fostering transparency and collaboration in our work. On behalf of the LSS, I want you to know that you can come to us with anything. We are here for you and want to support you.

Law school can be demanding, but it is also a space of tremendous growth. As you navigate the year ahead, I encourage you to take care of yourself and one another. Celebrate the wins and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. We are all in this together.

I wish you a year full of growth, connection, and incredible opportunities. Welcome (back) to law school!

Warmly,

Enaya AbdElGaber

President, Dalhousie Law Students’ Society
